Proudly Serving Kensington

Kensington is a suburb that’s 3 km from the heart of Perth, and it’s designated as part of South Perth. The little town of Kensington was named after the former racecourse and racetrack that were once in its midst. Its most likely namesake is William Samuel Cox, who came up with the name for his own Melbourne-based track.

This small town is located on the western coast of Western Australia. The infamous Canning Highway stretches from north to south, bisecting Kensington in two and providing access for residents and visitors alike.

Also known by locals as ‘Kenso’, this suburb is a colourful mix of buildings and homes. With its close proximity to the Sydney CBD, several visitors coming into Kensington visit local heritage sites such as Sacred Heart Monastery, Former W.D and H.O Wills Building, and Carthona in Todman Avenue, to name a few. 

Kensington is a land of sand with water hidden beneath the dunes. The ground here acts as an enormous aquifer with sandy depths that can hold up to 3 million gallons at any given time. It is placed within the geographic coverage of Botany Lowlands. In the three square kilometres that cover Kensington, there are six parks. Parks such as Banksia Park and Waratah Park attract a wide variety of birdlife from around Australia, such as magpies, galas, ibises, and crows.
